City Forester Sam Hogenson, in partnership with the City of Decorah Tree Board, is requesting Decorah residents help identify ash trees on their property. Over 400 ash trees have been removed from the City’s boulevards due to endemic emerald ash borer (EAB) infestation. Many ash trees had been planted to replace the American elms which were devastated by Dutch elm disease.

The Decorah Public Library has announced a thought-provoking and compassionate presentation, “Notes from the Border,” taking place on March 6th at 6:30 p.m. in the library’s mezzanine. This event is free and open to the public.
Wisconsin Singers, the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s premier Broadway-caliber touring production, is taking the stage at Decorah High School for its 56th season show “When Opposites Attract” on March 3 at 3 p.m.
Twenty-one Decorah FFA members participated at the Northwest Sub-District FFA Leadership Development Events recently at Crestwood High School. The chapter competed in nine leadership development events and one quiz contest.
The all-women tenThing Brass Ensemble will perform for Luther’s Center Stage Series at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, in the Center for Faith and Life Main Hall. The award-winning Norwegian ensemble will stop at Luther as part of their tour across the East Coast and Midwest. The event is co-sponsored by Luther’s Torgerson Center for Nordic Studies.
Decorah High School musicians from the 7 O’Clock Jazz Band, directed by Matthew Cody, will be joining forces with the Middle School Jazz Band, directed by Emily Hahn, to share their talents at a Jazz Coffeehouse Friday, March 1, in the high school cafeteria.
