Seven students from Decorah High School – Lucas Arendt, Aidan Nalean-Carlson, Peter Essa, Aya Hawthorn, Mason Myers, Alexis Walker, and Henry Weis – have been selected as a College Board National Recognition Program awardee. Margret Zook, a former DHS student, also received the honor.

K9 program receives donation

The Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office recently ceived a $650 donation for the K9 program from a recent kayak raffle held Aug. 26 at Bluffton Resort & Bar.

Window air conditioning units have been installed at two Decorah schools

In a letter to parents of the Decorah Community School District (DCSD) last week, DCSD Superintendent Tim Cronin reported window air conditioners were installed in classrooms at John Cline Elementary School and West Side Early Childhood Center.

The drilling started more than a year ago, and went down to a depth of 3,200 feet, but some time ago the drillers encountered troubles as the top of the eight-inch drill bit broke off, leaving the bit at the depth of 3,200 feet.
