HF 2577, a bill to increase parents’ access to information of what’s being taught to their kids, was passed in the House. School districts and teachers are required to post the syllabus, textbooks, related core materials and a list of instructional materials to an online portal parents can access.

As we moved towards the scheduled adjournment of April 19, the Senate addressed a number of policies ranging from addressing nuisance bars, permitting electronic insurance notices, to language and literacy development for deaf children.

For the current fiscal year, state revenues are expected to be $9.1711 billion through June 30. That amount is $110.5 million higher than what the Revenue Estimating Conference had forecast at their December meeting.

This week, the Iowa House passed a bill to set the percent growth for Supplemental State Aid for K-12 schools at 2.5%. This equates to a $159 million in new money for K-12 public schools.
