As part of the Electoral Process, the early year caucus information is provided to assist those who want to be a part of the process to be involved in ensuring Iowa’s voice is heard for the next presidential candidate for the democrat and republican parties’ ballot November 2024. Iowa residents who are over 18 and registered as a Republican can participate in the caucuses.
For republicans in Winneshiek County, caucus by November 5, 2024, to select a presidential candidate for the Republican Party will be held Jan. 15, 2024, starting at 7 p.m.

• Fremont, Burr Oak, Orleans, Bluffton and Madison Townships: St Bridget Catholic Church, 3094 253rd Ave., Bluffton.
• Hesper, Highland, Canoe, Pleasant and Glenwood Townships: St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1638 Big Canoe Rd., Decorah
• Decorah Ward 1 and part of Decorah Township: Stone Ridge Community Church, 1111 Montgomery St., Decorah
• Decorah Ward 2, 3A and 3B: VFW Post 1977, 104 State St., Decorah
• Decorah Ward 4 & 5, the part of Decorah Township in Supervisor District 4 & Springfield Township: Christian Life Center, 2513 River Rd., Decorah
• Frankville, Bloomfield and Military Townships: Ossian Community Center, 123 W Main St., Ossian
• Calmar, Washington and Jackson Townships, Spillville Public Library, 201 Oak St., Spillville
• Lincoln and Sumner Townships, Ridgeway Community Center, 690 County St., Ridgeway
Democrat caucus
The Iowa Democrat caucus, due to the National Democratic Party’s change to a more diverse South Carolina as the first-in-the-nation status for caucus in 2024, will be held through absentee voting through Feb. 19, with results announced March 5. Absentee Presidential Preference Cards will be mailed out beginning Jan. 12. An online request form is available at iowademocrats.org/caucus.
Winneshiek County Democrats will meet Jan. 15, at Lingonberry at 218 W. Water Street in Decorah, to conduct party business and local elections ahead of county conventions.
