Minnesota-based nonprofit organization Best Christmas Ever (BCE) recently delivered a special Christmas surprise to a family in Rushford, Minn.
BCE seeks to find families who have fallen upon hard times, through no fault of their own, and partners with local leaders and businesses to provide the family with the “best Christmas ever” – unique and tailored to the family situation.
Families were nominated by friends and family this fall, and the Miltenberger family of Rushford was selected the recipient of BCE and local efforts. The special delivery was dropped off by Santa, his elf and volunteers Wednesday, Dec. 20, transported in a new-age sleigh: a firetruck from the Rushford Fire Department.
In each community, a BCE Captain is chosen who creates a committee to form partnerships with all involved in sponsoring the local family. Members of the Rushford Peterson Valley BCE committee included Captain Kristin Burdey, Andrea Heuser, Chellsey Olson, Shannon Ingvalson, Melissa Feine, Jodi Skalet, Teisha Escobar. Local businesses, churches, community members and the Rushford Fire Department also joined to make the BCE event a success.
