Caregiver Day Friday at NICC

Caregiver Day is Friday, Nov. 4, at the NICC Calmar Campus. The event is to commemorate National Family Caregiver Month in November.

November has been designated National Family Caregiver month to celebrate the invaluable contributions caregivers make in the lives of their aged and disabled loved ones. The economic value of caregivers is estimated to be over $200 billion dollars annually in the United States. Northeast Iowa Area Agency on Aging (NEI3A) wishes to celebrate the efforts of local caregivers and is partnering with NICC to host an annual Senior Health Fair and Caregiver Wellness Day.

This free event is open to all and will be held on Friday, Nov. 4, from 9 a.m. to noon at the NICC Calmar Campus, Wilder Building, 1625 Hwy. 150 South, in Calmar.

The Wellness Day will begin with a health fair, with local senior service agencies set up to provide information about what is available to seniors in their homes. Following will be refreshments and a presentation “Finding Grace in Caregiving,” by keynote speaker Dr. Bradley Hanson, retired Luther professor, current caregiver, and published author.

Local vendors will be available to visit before and following the presentation and are providing door prizes for the event. CEU for nursing and social work is pending with the Iowa Board of Nursing. Registration is appreciated but not required.

To pre-register for the conference or for more information, call Kelly Kuennen at 563-277-6024.
