Decorah Community School District (DCSD) has narrowed the field of architectural firms to be considered for construction of a proposed new elementary school.
Board members met early Thursday morning after reviewing the preliminary proposals from six firms for consideration.
The three finalists to be interviewed are Emergent, Invision and SVPA Architects.
Supt. Cronin said at an earlier Board meeting that he had been in contact with some school district administrators in the state who had utilized the firms, and he was comfortable with their responses. Emergent has worked on projects in Decorah and other Iowa schools. Invision has outlined some of the company’s projects in Oelwein and other Iowa communities. SVPA Arthitects also has worked on school building projects in Iowa City and several other Iowa school districts.
The three firms now will be interviewed by school board members, with the goal of selecting a finalist in the coming weeks.
The interview process is scheduled during a special board meeting Wednesday, Feb. 22, at 5:30 p.m. The meeting will be available to view live on the school’s YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@DecorahTv/streams.
