Decorah Area Chamber hosts Volunteer Open House Nov. 3

The event is an opportunity for past and prospective volunteers to meet with chamber staff, learn about the specifics of volunteer opportunities and sign up for hours during the bustling holiday season.

With the holidays around the corner, the Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Volunteer Open House on Wednesday, Nov. 3. The event is an opportunity for past and prospective volunteers to meet with chamber staff, learn about the specifics of volunteer opportunities and sign up for hours during the bustling holiday season. The open house is scheduled from 1 to 2 p.m., and refreshments will be provided.
The Decorah Area Chamber, now in its 97th year, is a central location for visitors and residents to gather information about the area businesses, attractions, employers and community engagement opportunities. The chamber has long relied on the power of volunteers to serve in-person guests, manage phone inquiries and contribute to the town’s welcoming energy.
“Being a visitor center volunteer is a great way to connect socially and serve your community. It’s an energetic environment where you get to help visitors, share your hometown enthusiasm, and support the important work of the Chamber. It’s rewarding whether you are a new resident or a life-long resident because you have a pulse on the happenings in the community and are on the receiving end of so many joyful compliments,” said Chamber Director Jessica Rilling.
The chamber is proud to be an official Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) volunteer station. RSVP helps place community volunteers at stations that suit their interest area. Volunteers already registered with the RSVP program, interested community members with no volunteer experience and young professionals curious to see this facet of their hometown are all encouraged to attend the open house to learn more.
For more information or to volunteer, please call the chamber directly at 563-382-3990.
