Decorah Community School District has announced school will be dismissed 2 hours early on Friday, Aug. 25, due to extreme heat.

Classes were dismissed early on Wednesday, and were cancelled for Thursday because of the high temperatures.

In a letter to families, DCSD Superintendent Tim Cronin stated, “most of our concerns are with the temperatuers at John Cline Elementary, the only school with students in session that doesn’t have air conditioning. We hate to have to cancel what was to be the second day of school, but want to keep the children and staff safe. The make-up day will be Monday, May 20, 2024.”

His letter continued, “Our intentions are to be in school on Friday, and if we need to make an adjustment for school on Friday, we plan to make an announcement by 4 pm. on Thursday.”
