Early morning shooting reported in Decorah

A 9-1-1 call came in to the dispatch center in Decorah Friday, Dec. 2, at 1:36 a.m., with the report of a shooting outside the Corner Bar in downtown Decorah.

A 9-1-1 call came in to the dispatch center in Decorah Dec. 2 at 1:36 a.m., with the report of a shooting outside of the Corner Bar in downtown Decorah.

Decorah Police Officers responded to that location where they located the victim.

The victim was transported to the Winneshiek County Medical Center via ambulance, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The Decorah Police Department is investigating the incident.

The Decorah Police Department was assisted by the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office, Winneshiek County 9-1-1 Center, and the Cresco Police Department.

In a release to the media, the Decorah Police released the following statement Friday afternoon:

“In reference to the shooting incident outside the Corner Bar in Decorah in the early morning hours of Friday, Dec. 2. The shooter has been identified and warrants have been issued for his arrest. As a result of the investigation we do not feel that there is a danger to the general public. The investigation is still on-going.”
