Flood warning is in effect in Winneshiek County

A Flood Warning has been issued in the area from June 21 at 4:24 p.m. to June 24 at 1 a.m. by the National Weather Service (NWS) In La Crosse, Wis.
The forecast calls for the Turkey River at Spillville in Winneshiek County to see major flooding. The river is expected to rise above flood stage at 9 feet late in the morning Saturday, June 22, and cresting to 16 feet Saturday evening. It will then fall below flood stage early in the afternoon June 23. The crest compares to a previous crest of 16.1 feet in May of 1965.
Area residents are urged to take caution in the event of flash flooding throughout Northeast Iowa and Southern Minnesota as rain continues to fall in the region.
