Holiday parade float winners announced

Two winners were selected as the best representatives in Large Parade Float and Small Parade Float categories.

The Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the winners of the 2022 Water Street Lighted Parade which was held Thursday, December 1 in downtown Decorah.  Two winners were selected as the best representatives in Large Parade Float and Small Parade Float categories.

Congratulations to Bill Holland of JB Holland Construction for taking the prize in the Large Parade Float category.  JB Holland’s float featured an impressive sound system projecting holiday music, a skid loader, large inflatable gingerbread man, and a sneak peek at their future “gingerbread” house – a rendering of their new office/shop location– all outlined in many strands of lights.

The winner of the Small Parade Float category was Harman Realty whose entry featured a Gingerbread House that was “sold” by Harman Realty.  The float was accessorized with adorable children carrying the gingerbread purchasers of the gingerbread home.  Many strands of white lights adorned the roof of the gingerbread house. A miniature Christmas Tree and inflatable snow man topped off their “homey” scene.

Parade judges noted, “This year’s participants did a fantastic job incorporating gingerbread and lights into their floats.  Selecting winners is always a difficult decision! We hope to see the same level of participation and ingenuity in next years parade.”
