Low voter turnout in Tuesday’s Primary

Low voter turnout was evident following Tuesday’s Primary Election in Winneshiek County, with 456 ballots cast from a possible 11,427 registered voters. The “unofficial results” were released late Tuesday night from Winneshiek County Auditor Ben Steines. Twelve precincts reported, with 229 Democratic ballots cast, 225 Republican ballots cast and two Libertarian Party ballots reported. The canvassing of the election will be Friday at the Winneshiek County Courthouse. There were no contested races in Winneshiek County.
