Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public about a man at large as of Friday afternoon after fleeing deputies east of Decorah.

The man is identified as 41-year-old Jon Moreland. Moreland has outstanding arrest warrants out of Iowa and multiple felony arrest warrants out of Wisconsin. He is still at large as law enforcement continues to search for him. The Sheriff’s Office has learned Moreland has likely been picked up by a private party and has left Winneshie County. However, officials have been unable to confirm this report, and are pursuing that information.

The Sheriff’s Office says that after a suspicious person was reported by residents, deputies attempted to stop a car at a public fishing access on 133rd Ave., in Glenwood Township. The subject drove away at a high speed and then abandoned the car ran to a secluded and wooded area. The subject is described as a white man with blue jeans, a dark-colored t-shirt, and a baseball hat. Authorities are warning people to not approach the man if he is seen and to call 911 immediately. They also advised that people in the area lock their doors and cars.

The Sheriff’s Office says another subject involved was taken into custody.
