Effective immediately, the Winneshiek County 911 Communications Center will begin monthly testing of the outdoor weather sirens countywide on the first Wednesday of each month at 10:00 a.m. The monthly tests will consist of a simultaneous short blast of the outdoor weather sirens countywide. The monthly testing will take place April through November. The monthly tests are subject to cancelation due to predicted actual severe weather on the morning of the scheduled test.
This change in practice will help ensure the wireless technology associated with the outdoor weather sirens remains functional during peak severe weather season.
