The Oneota Film Festival board announces the 13th Annual Oneota Film Festival, Thursday through Sunday, March 2-5, in downtown Decorah.
The weekend will provide many opportunities to make connections with filmmakers, friends and other members of the broader-Decorah community and beyond at the many special events, filmmaker Q&A discussions and film screenings.
This year, the OFF board has selected more than 45 new, independent films, including: documentaries, dramas, family-friendly animated and short films, and student films. Over the weekend, festival attendees and filmmakers will have ample opportunity to make connections as the films will be shown in six locations in downtown Decorah.
Films will be screened at Hotel Winneshiek, Driftless Yoga Center, T-Bocks Upstairs, Convergence CiderWorks, ArtHaus and the VFW.
Several local filmmakers will be screening their films and hosting Q&A discussions after the screenings, including students from Decorah High School, MFL Mar-Mac High School and Postville High School. Filmmakers will be honored at the Filmmakers’ Reception at Upstairs T-Bocks on Saturday, March 4, at 7 p.m.
The festival schedule and film descriptions are now available on the Oneota Film Festival website (www.oneotafilmfestival.org), and Festival Guides will be available soon at sponsor locations throughout Decorah.
The Oneota Film Festival events are free and open to the public due to the generosity of our business sponsors and individual supporters. Highlights of the festival this year include: “John – the Last Cowboy,” a film about the son of a Norwegian immigrant who is in his 90s and continues to live and work on his ranch alone in Montana; “Jack has a Plan,” featuring Director, Bradley Berman and Producer, Chris Metzler; “Marcel The Shell With Shoes On”, a family-friendly film with a craft to follow at ArtHaus, and “The Disruptors”, a film about living with ADHD followed by a panel with local people who are also living with ADHD.
