Orchestra concert here Feb. 26

The Oneota Valley Community Orchestra presents "An American in Paris" Sunday, Feb. 26, at 3 p.m. in the Decorah High School Auditorium.

The Oneota Valley Community Orchestra (OVCO) invites the public to an exciting musical journey into the classical works associated with the great city of Paris. The concert will take place on Sunday, Feb. 26, at 3 p.m. at the Decorah High School Auditorium.

Award winning OVCO Music Director Matthew Cody will conduct the orchestra.The conce

rt program will culminate in George Gershwin’s masterpiece, “An American in Paris”, complete with car horns and seminal jazz stylings. The program will also include Claude Debussy’s steamy and suggestive “Prelude to The Afternoon of a Faun”, Maurice Ravel’s subtly gracious ”Pavanne of a Dead Princess”, George Bizet’s seductively passionate “Carmen Suite No. 1”, and Virgil Thomson’s impressionist view “The Seine at Night”.
