OVCC concert April 28

The Oneota Valley Community Orchestra (OVCO), under the direction of Matthew Cody, will conclude its 10th season with a Finale Concert on Sunday, April 28, at 3 p.m. at the Decorah High School Auditorium.The program opens with Deep Summer Music by American composer Libby Larsen. Then Decorah’s own Carina Yee will return home to play the Violin Concerto by Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The concert concludes with Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8 in G Major.

A 2018 graduate of Decorah High School, Carina has gone on to study violin at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY and the Cleveland Institute of Music. Currently, she is pursuing graduate studies at the State University of New York at Stony Brook on Long Island.

The concert also will mark the opening of online bidding in an auction benefiting the orchestra. The auction will be held on the Galabid fundraising platform at <https://app.galabid.com/ovco/>. The auction items feature a lute made by OVCO violist and woodworker, Benjamin Kratchmer, and an art jacket with a block print by Bonnie Koloc among other items. The items will be available for viewing in lobby of the auditorium. Auction bidding closes on May 3.
The concert is free and open to the public. The orchestra is sponsored by the Marion E. Jerome Foundation and The Depot Outlet.
