Decorah Police released a few additional details regarding two residential entries overnight.
In a press release to the media on Tuesday afternoon, the Decorah Police Department statement was as follows: “A person of interest has been identified in the recent investigation of an individual entering residences in Decorah in the early morning hours of Sunday, June 25.. This investigation is ongoing. There does not appear to be any risk to the public.”
Police earlier requested all residents in the areas of Mechanic Street and Division Street to check out-buildings as well as vehicles.
According to the earlier release from Decorah Police, “We also ask if you have video surveillance cameras on your property, please check them for any activity around 3:30 a.m. on 6/25/2023. The suspect is described as a male in his mid-twenties, medium build, approximately 6 foot tall, with shaggy sandy colored hair. The last known clothing worn by the suspect was grey sweatpants, and possibly a tie-die or white shirt.”
Those with any information to assist in this investigation, are asked to call the Decorah Police Department at 563-382-3667. Anyone locating items of interest in this matter on a surveillance camera system, should call the same number.
The release continued, “We would like to remind residents to please lock your doors at night.”
