Reports from Decorah PD and Winn Co. Sheriff

Decorah Police
On Jan. 22, at approximately 10:32 p.m., Brenden Poole, age 24, of Decorah, entered the Subway on College Drive after the business was closed. Poole left with a cash box containing $300. Poole was with Curtis Wilkins, age 21, of Decorah, at the time of the burglary. Wilkins remained outside as Poole entered Subway. Poole and Wilkins were identified by security cameras in the area and a witness. Arrest warrants were issued for Brenden Poole for burglary 3rd degree (class D felony) and possession of burglary tools. Poole was also charged with possession of controlled substance – methamphetamine as a result of a search warrant. An arrest warrant was issued for Wilkins for conspiracy to commit non-forcible felony (class D felony). Decorah Police Department was assisted by the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office while serving an arrest warrant on Brenden Poole in Freeport on Feb. 23. Curtis Wilkins still has an active arrest warrant. 

Decorah Police received a report from Walmart that on Feb. 6, 29-year-old Clarence Burch of Decorah had scanned items at a self-checkout but failed to pay for the items prior to exiting the store. On Feb. 25, Burch was charged with 5th degree theft.

Decorah Police were called to an accident on East Water Street at Montgomery Street Feb. 27 at 9 a.m. Police report 22-year-old Brooke Moseley of Roseville, Minn., was traveling on Water Street and failed to yield to a van driven by 26-year-old Abby Flak of Decorah as she was rounding the corner at Water Street and Montgomery Street. There were no injuries. Damages were estimated at $5,000 for each vehicle involved.

Winneshiek Sheriff

On Feb. 25 at 10:50 p.m., the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop and issued a warrant of the vehicle was conducted on Clark Street in Calmar. The search warrant result in one person charged and arrested: Angelia Hakim, age 21, of Ossian, was arrested and charged with D felony failure to affix a drug stamp and D felony possession of controlled substance. This case remains under investigation, with additional arrests and charges pending. The Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Winneshiek County Attorney’s Office.

A Decorah Police Department Officer observed a wanted person inside a vehicle traveling towards Freeport Feb. 23 at 7:45 p.m. The Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office assisted in arresting Brenden Poole, age 24, of Decorah, who had outstanding Decorah Police Department arrest warrants. Brenden Poole was also charged by the Sheriff’s Office with possession of controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Luke Price, age 22, of Decorah, was also arrested and charged with possession of controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both subjects were transported to the Winneshiek County Jail. 

Brian Kleppe, age 25, of Ossian was traveling on Middle Calmar Road Feb. 23 at 10:25 p.m., and lost control of his vehicle, a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Kleppe entered the ditch and rolled several times. Kleppe was ejected from the vehicle. Kleppe was taken by ambulance and later airlifted from Winneshiek Medical Center. This accident remains under investigation. The Decorah Fire Department assisted the sheriff’s office. Property damage was estimated at $6,000.
