Decorah Police
Officers were called to Kwik Star on Short Street in Decorah June 24 for a welfare check on a male soliciting rides and drinking alcoholic beverages. The male, Shane Solheim, 49, of Ossian, was arrested for public intoxication and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail without incident.
Winneshiek Sheriff
James Bachmurski, 65, of Swainsboro, Ga., was arrested June 20 and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail on an arrest warrant for violation of probation. He was transported from Emanuel County Jail in Georgia to the Winneshiek County Jail.
Winneshiek Sheriff’s Office investigated a one-vehicle accident June 12 at approximately 5:09 p.m. A vehicle driven by Amanda Turner, 43, of West Union, was northbound on County Road W42. The driver reportedly started feeling a panic attack coming on, and lost consciousness. The vehicle crossed the center line and entered the west ditch. The vehicle traveled north in the ditch, striking a power pole, causing the pole to snap. The vehicle and pole came to rest in a nearby corn field. The driver was transported to WinnMed in Decorah for further care. A lone passenger, a juvenile from West Union, complained of back pain. The report stated the driver was referred to Iowa DOT for ReExam. Damages totaled $250 to a barbed wire fence owned by Jayne Schultz of Decorah; $2,500 to the utility pole owned by Alliant Energy; and $16,000 to the 2016 Honda Pilot SUV Turner was driving.
