A criminal complaint filed against Wedo on July 30 accused the teen took a phone belonging to a resident of Spring Grove, Minnesota, after “seeing things on (her) phone that he did not agree with or like.” The complaint said Wedo left the property and then initially “denied having any knowledge of the location of the phone,” claiming he had returned the phone to its owner. Police found the phone approximately 2.5 miles away on Centennial Road with a broken screen. Wedo was charged with fifth-degree criminal mischief at approximately 2:49 p.m. Saturday, June 22 in the 2300 block of Sweet Parkway Road in Decorah. The criminal complaint specified a warrant was requested because Wedo “failed to uphold an agreement to come to the law enforcement center to sign his summons to appear.”

Donavon Michael Hensley, age 30, of Leesville, Louisiana, was charged with careless driving at approximately 1:27 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2 near the in area of West Main Street, Washington Street and East Main Street in Decorah. A police officer heard a vehicle squealing its tires near the Corner Bar in Decorah multiple times. The officer stopped the vehicle and, while speaking with Hensley, law enforcement received a report from an individual at the Corner Bar who accurately described the vehicle the officer had stopped. A criminal complaint said Hensley showed signs of impairment and “had facial trauma.” He was arrested and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail at 4:05 a.m. the same day.

David Allen Craig, age 38, of Decorah was charged with obstruction of emergency communication and domestic abuse at approximately 7:45 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8 in the 2300 block of Sweet Parkway in Decorah. Members of the Decorah Police Department responded to a residence there after a report of a female screaming for help at the Briar Grove Apartments. Officers reported the victim was bleeding from her temple and areas of her face were swollen and red. The victim told officers an argument ensued after the she and Craig had been drinking, and she claimed Craig struck her with his fists. The complaint went on to say “the defendant took the victim’s cell phone, which did not allow her to call for emergency assistance. This is why the victim was walking the hallway of the apartment, screaming for help.” Officers believed Craig had fled on foot, and the police department said in a statement that “several concerned neighbors came forward and provided valuable information point to the direction that Craig fled.” The 38-year-old was located in a wooded area by police and K-9 unit Drago, where he was apprehended without incident and the victim’s phone was recovered. Craig was booked into the Winneshiek County Jail at 9:35 p.m. the same day.
