Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to a report of a collision of a tractor and car on Big Canoe Road near Bear Creek Road at the intersection April 12. Upon arrival, investigating officer found the car had been moved off Big Canoe Road, where the accident occurred, and was pulled over on Bear Creek Road. The vehicle had extensive damage and was totaled. The tractor was pulling a Kunn Field Finisher, and was on the side of Big Canoe Road. The officer spoke with the driver of the 2006 Ford Explorer, Jarred Bappe, 33, of Decorah, who said he was traveling west on Big Canoe, with his visor down and said he did not see the tractor or equipment because the sun was in his eyes. The driver of the tractor, Jamie Anderson, said he had been traveling west on Big Canoe Road when he was rear-ended. No injuries were reported. No citations were made.
Justin Daniel, 23, of Columbus, Ga., was arrested April 22 at 11:54 p.m. in Decorah, and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail for serious misdemeanor possession of controlled substance.
Jeremiah Orr, 36, of Waterloo, was arrested April 20 and transported from the Waterloo Residential Facility and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail on an arrest warrant for violation of probation.
Edgar Chavez, 29, of Calmar, was incarcerated in the Winneshiek County Jail April 24 on three arrest warrants for violation of probation.
