Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office responded to an accident July 3 on Clay Hill Road. Santo Guerrara Rayo, 26, of Spring Grove, Minn., was reportedly southbound on Clay Hill Road near the driveway at 2645 Clay Hill Road when he lost control and rolled the vehicle a number of times down an embankment. The vehicle came to rest on the passenger side. The two occupants of the vehicle were able to crawl out, and were met on the roadway by a passerby who called 911. The two occupants did not request medical treatment. The vehicle sustained $10,000 in damages. Guerrara Rayo was cited for no valid driver’s license.

Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office responded to a three-vehicle accident on Highway 9 east of Decorah June 28. DeJuan Washington, 41, of Madison, Wis., stated he was traveling westbound on Highway 9 and was approaching the intersection, and the intersection “came up too fast” and he attempted to make a left turn onto Jordan Road. The driver failed to yield to oncoming traffic and stopped in the oncoming lane of traffic. Matthew Benda, 44, of Decorah, said he saw the vehicle in his lane and applied his brakes, and he attempted to avoid hitting a semi head-on, and went off the road, striking a vehicle driven by Reid Williams, 37, of Decorah, which was at the stop sign and was already backing up to avoid striking Washington’s vehicle. Benda’s vehicle struck Williams’ vehicle, and then struck a utility pole at the scene. Sheriff’s Office reviewed security camera footage of the accident. Washington was cited for failing to yield to oncoming traffic. Total damages were estimated at more than $32,000.
Tamra Weeks, 34, of Dubuque was arrested and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail July 7, and transported form the Jo Daviess County Jail in Galena, Ill., on an arrest warrant for violation of probation. Weeks had an initial appearance before Magistrate Moonen on July 8 at 3:15 p.m. and was held without bond; and remains incarcerated in the Winneshiek County Jail.

Decorah Police
A Decorah Police Officer observed Brandon Schneider, 21, of Decorah tip over while riding a moped near the Corner Bar June 25 at 11:08 p.m. after making contact with Schneider, Police arrested him for operating while intoxicated 1st offense. Schneider was not injured.

Winneshiek County Sheriff
Patrick Stone, 42, of Waukon, was arrested and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail July 1 on arrest warrant for two counts of felony child endangerment (physical abuse). District Court Judge Thomas Ritter issued the warrant with $500 cash bond. Stone posted bond and was released. 
Joshua Amunrud, 36, of Dorchester, was arrested and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail July 1 at 11:14 a.m. in Hesper for driving while barred.
John Odegard, 23, of Clermont, was cited for failure to maintain control and safety belt violation following an accident on Centennial Road June 17 at 7:41 p.m. The driver reportedly drifted to the side of the road and lost control, causing the vehicle to roll. The driver had alcohol inside the vehicle and had an odor of an alcoholic beverage about his person. The 2007 Chevrolet Cruz sustained $7,000 in damages. 
Bradley Kober, 25, of Prairie Du Chien, Wis., was traveling south on North Winn Road June 16 when the vehicle he was driving entered the south ditch. Sheriff’s Office reported the vehicle traveled several hundred feet in the ditch before hitting a field drive, going airborne and landing on the other side of the field drive, and coming to a final resting point. Blood and urine samples were collected from the driver. Charges are pending for OWI, child endangerment, possession of marijuana, and failure to provide proof of financial liability. A passenger, 12-year-old Jayden Anderson of Decorah was extracted from the vehicle and was transported by ambulance to Winneshiek Medical Center. The 2003 Buick Century sedan was totaled in the accident.
Robert Kruse, 18, of Fort Atkinson, was arrested and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail June 27 at 8 p.m. for D felony domestic abuse impeding air/blood flow causing bodily injury and obstruction of emergency communications.
Brandy Gambrell, 40, of Urbana, was arrested and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail June 26 on an arrest warrant for assault with intent to inflict serious.
Brandon Chipp, 31, of Castalia, was charged with aggravated misdemeanor operating a vehicle without owner’s consent and simple misdemeanor theft 5th degree June 22. Chipp was given a court date to appear at a later date.
Winneshiek Sheriff’s Office investigated an accident June 25 on 228th Ave. Ashley Farley, 32, of Decorah lost control of vehicle she was driving, causing it to roll in the ditch and strike shrubs and a utility pole. The vehicle was removed from the scene and later the accident was reported in the afternoon. The driver and her passenger, Daryl Farley, 32, of Decorah, had some minor injuries. An estimated $10,000 in damages were reported to her vehicle and $200 to the light pole and $100 to trees and shrubs at the residence of Don Lundtvedt. Ashley Farley was cited for failure to maintain control. 
Wayne Dearmond, 40, of Chicago, Ill., was arrested and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail at 11:48 a.m. July 2 in Spillville for public intoxication.
Keeaunna Wilson, 21, of Ridgeway, was cited for crossing the centerline of the roadway following an accident July 3. Wilson was northbound on County Road W14 and had stopped at the stop sign, and then took a wide turn at the intersection of Pole Line Road, striking a westbound vehicle driven by Kayla Slabaugh, 39, of Cresco. Approximately $10,000 in total damages were reported.
