The Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office assisted Bremer County in apprehending Jamel Williams, 34, of Waverly, who was wanted for a domestic abuse assault in Bremer County. A Winneshiek County Deputy conducted a traffic stop on Williams Wednesday, Jan. 5, at 4:15 p.m., on Pole Line Road. Williams was arrested and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail for driving while license denied or revoked.
Kevin Schneider, 48, of Fredericksburg was arrested in Chickasaw County. Winneshiek County deputies transported him and booked him into the Winneshiek County Jail Wednesday, Jan. 5, for violation of probation arrest warrants out of Winneshiek County.
Ethan Monroe, 19, of Decorah, was charged with failure to maintain control following an accident Saturday, Jan. 1, at 1:53 a.m. Monroe was reportedly driving northbound on Centennial Road and near the intersection with 140th Street when his vehicle drifted onto the east shoulder and then entered the ditch. The vehicle got sideways in the ditch and made contact with the T-intersection sign knocking it over. Monroe’s vehicle went over the field driveway and came to a stop facing east. The driver then drove forward into the field and turned left and swung back towards the ditch embankment. The vehicle began going up the embankment but it was too steep and it rolled back down the ditch coming to rest on its top. The vehicle was totaled by the damage caused. The driver was helped out of the vehicle by a person who was called. The driver had left the scene by the time law enforcement had arrived on scene. Damages totaled $11,000 to the 2004 Chevrolet Silverado truck and $200 to the road sign.
