The Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office received a call March 26 at approximately 2:38 a.m. about an abandoned vehicle in the ditch on Hwy 150 North of 110th Street, just south of Festina. This vehicle appeared to have run off the road and into a “T” intersection sign in the east ditch. Investigating officers took down the vehicle information and Don’s Towing came to tow the vehicle to their shop. The next day officers identified the driver as 18-year-old Peyten Kennedy of Cresco, the daughter of the registered owner. The driver explained that she was traveling north and ran off the road to the right on March 25 at approximately 1 a.m. She said she lost control due to the icy road conditions. She advised that the vehicle did not have insurance. She was cited for failure to maintain control. Damages totaled $4,000 to the 2004 Pontiac Bonneville she was driving, and $200 to a “T” intersection sign owned by the Iowa Department of Transportation.
