Following a traffic stop on Highway 9 near Ridgeway at 9:02 p.m. March 26, 44-year-old Fredrick Jones of Postville was charged and arrested for driving while barred and taken to the Winneshiek County Jail.
Amber Baker, 19 of Calmar, was involved in a single vehicle accident on Locust Road at 9:31 p.m. on March 31. She was subsequently cited for possession of controlled substance; marijuana.
Ava Sons, 19, of Decorah, was involved in a single vehicle rollover at 12:40 a.m. March 31 on Quarry Hill Road, and was subsequently arrested and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail for operating while under the influence. A female passenger was cited for possession of alcohol under the age of 21.
The Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office received a call March 26 at approximately 2:38 a.m. about an abandoned vehicle in the ditch on Hwy 150 North of 110th Street, just south of Festina. This vehicle appeared to have run off the road and into a “T” intersection sign in the east ditch. Investigating officers took down the vehicle information and Don’s Towing came to tow the vehicle to their shop. The next day officers identified the driver as 18-year-old Peyten Kennedy of Cresco, the daughter of the registered owner. The driver explained that she was traveling north and ran off the road to the right on March 25 at approximately 1 a.m. She said she lost control due to the icy road conditions. She advised that the vehicle did not have insurance. She was cited for failure to maintain control. Damages totaled $4,000 to the 2004 Pontiac Bonneville she was driving, and $200 to a “T” intersection sign owned by the Iowa Department of Transportation.
