Reports from the Winneshiek County Sheriff

Caeden-Phillip Nyanjenga, 18, of Decorah, turned himself into the Winneshiek County Jail April 2, where he was arrested and booked on an arrest warrant for violation of pretrial supervision.

Following a driving complaint of a vehicle driving on Pole Line Road, a Cresco Police Officer located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on Highway 9, April 7 at 11:04 p.m. Subsequently, Lucas O’Neill, 41, of Waukon, was arrested and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail for operating while under the influence. The Cresco Police Department assisted the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office.

Bree Jore, 23, of Decorah, turned herself into the Winneshiek County Jail April 3 and was arrested on a Fayette County arrest warrant for violation of probation. Jore also was charged with aggravated misdemeanor possession of controlled substance, second offense.

Alexander Logan, 38, of Austin, Minn., was arrested on Panoramic Road in Decorah at 9 p.m. April 4, and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail for aggravated misdemeanor operating a vehicle without owner’s consent.

Martin Herrera, 23, of Marshalltown, was cited for failure to stop in assured clear distance following an accident April 6 near Fort Atkinson. The Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 24 and County Road B32. A vehicle driven by 61-year-old Janet Cutsforth of Fort Atkinson was southbound on Highway 24, and was slowing down to execute a left turn onto County Road B32. Cutsforth was yielding for a UTV in the northbound lane before attempting to safely make the left turn. Herrera’s vehicle was southbound on Highway 24 behind Cutsforth’s vehicle, and did not slow down, rear ending the other vehicle at a high rate of speed. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage. Cutsforth had complaints of pain but was not transported to the hospital. Herrera had complaints of neck and shoulder pain and was transported to WinnMed Emergency Department. Damages totaled $10,000 to the 2019 Chevy Silverado driven by Herrera and $10,000 to Cutsforth’s 2023 Chevy Equinox SUV.
