Spend a fun-filled Friday afternoon designing a floral arrangement while socializing with old and new friends.
Gerry Sorenson, Seniors Hospitality Center Program Chair, shared her excitement for the upcoming fall schedule of events at the Seniors Hospitality Center, “Deon Sawyer, Decorah Greenhouses & Gift Shop is kicking off the Center’s new Senior Adventures program with a Do-It-Yourself (DIY) class. Deon will be sharing flower arranging tips while attendees design a one-of-a-kind flower arrangement in their favorite coffee mug.”
The Seniors Hospitality Center is kicking off their Senior Adventures program on Friday, Sept. 10, at 1:30 p.m. Deon Sawyer, Floral Designer and Owner, Decorah Greenhouses & Gift Shop, is offering a free DIY flower arranging workshop. Each attendee will take home a one-of-a-kind flower arrangement. Each attendee needs to bring a favorite coffee mug to use as the vase of the arrangement. All other supplies are provided. Participants are encouraged to invite a friend to join them at the Seniors Hospitality Center, 806 River Street, Decorah.
Those interested are asked to RSVP by Sept. 7, 2021, to Gerry Sorenson at 563-382-2669 if planning to attend.
The Center will be hosting guest speakers on the second Friday of every month at 1:30 p.m. On Oct. 8, local authors Carol Hagen and Betty Dowe will discuss their new books, “What’s in the Rømmegrøt?!” children’s book and “Strokes of Love” Rosemaling coloring book. Attendees will be treated to homemade traditional Norwegian desserts from the “Rosemalers’ Recipes” cookbook, editor Betty Dowe.
The Seniors Hospitality Center provides social, recreational, and educational opportunities to all Senior Citizens with no regard to sex, income, or background. The only requirement is that the member is 55 years old or older.
