Star City Film Festival Lacey Awards given

At the Star City Film Festival held in Lansing in July, there were three days of excitement, drama, artistry and celebration. They even lit the Black Hawk bridge in honor of founder Katie O’Regan’s two-year guest of honor Ed Asner, who passed away, as well as O’Regan’s father, Francis O’Regan, who passed away this spring. 

Many films were showcased over the three-day event, with Lacey Awards going to the following films:

“Black Hawk’s Final Resting Place,” with Director Russ Fry won Best Historical Documentary. 

“Ako Abdul-Samad: Panther Politician, Part 1,” with Director S. Torriano Berry, won Best Political Documentary. 

“Showing Up – Dare to live from your HEART,” with Director: Keith Kelly, won Best Feature Documentary. 

“Iggy Script” and “Tony’s Swing,” both by Writer Anthony Francis Cuomo, tied and won Best Script in Autism Script Category. 

“Two Wheel Freedom,” with Director Evan M. Jenkins won Best Action Film. 

“The Cross,” by writer Michael White, won Best Feature Script Category.
