Supervisors agree to free energy audit of Community Services building

The Winneshiek County Board of Supervisors agreed to have the Winneshiek Energy District (WED) conduct an energy audit at the new Community Services building (formerly referred to as “Spectrum”). Executive Director Kristin Eggen and Energy Planner Paul Cutting proposed the audit to the supervisors during their regular meeting Monday, June 24.

Eggen said Supervisor Shirley Vermace suggested WED “help the county” by providing a free energy audit of the newly-purchased building – to make sure the county won’t lose money through energy leaks and to see if the building and property can support solar panels if the county decides to install them in the future.

The supervisors agreed to move forward with the free energy audit, with Vermace being WED’s point of contact regarding the endeavor.
