Supervisors vote to extend offer to engineer applicant

By Zach Jensen,

The Winneshiek County Board of Supervisors unanimously voted Oct. 23 to extend an offer to an applicant for the position of County Engineer.

During their weekly meeting, the supervisors discussed the applicant, known as “Applicant 3”, who has six years of experience as a county engineer. To compensate the applicant for that experience, Winneshiek County is offering them an annual salary of $121,284.49.

According to information shared during the meeting, if the applicant, who has their Professional Engineer certification, accepts the county’s offer, they could start their new position about two weeks following their acceptance, and Interim Supervisor Nick Rissman would be available to help the new engineer for approximately 90 days into the new county engineer’s three-year contract.

Winneshiek County Auditor Ben Steines said that once the applicant accepts the offer, their name and other information will be released to the public.
