The non-profit organization Trees Forever has presented Winneshiek County Conservation with a $1,000 grant to fund a tree planting project at Freeport Park. Maple, oak and linden trees will be planted next to the new playground that was built at the park in 2022. This project is just the latest in the extensive renovations at Freeport Park, which have included the addition of a paved recreational trail, a new picnic shelter, park benches and various tree and prairie plantings.
