Vikes play Tuesday, no school at Decorah

The Decorah Community School will cancel school Tuesday, February 28 to allow staff and students to support the Vikings.

The Decorah Girls Basketball team defeated Mason City on Tuesday and has qualified for the State Tournament in Des Moines. The team plays next Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in Des Moines. As a result, the Decorah Community School will cancel school Tuesday, February 28. This will allow staff and students to support the Vikings.

There will be a community pep bus from Hawkeye Stages offered through Decorah High School. Tickets must be purchased online. Children who are in school (Kindergarten and above) are required to purchase a ticket.

In addition, if the girls’ team wins on Tuesday, they will play again on Thursday at 5 p.m. In order to facilitate planning, if the girls advance, the district will have a 12:30 p.m. dismissal on Thursday, similar to last year when the boys played at state.
