Winneshiek County Sheriff reports

Logan Omar, 22, of Ridgeway, was cited for registration violation, failure to provide proof of financial liability – accident, failure to maintain control and OWI, 1st offense following an accident Nov. 18 on County Road A46. The investigating officer reported Omar was driving while intoxicated and was westbound on County Road A46 west of Ridgway. The vehicle lost control, entered the north ditch and rolled. Damages were estimated at $3,500 to Omar’s 2001 Chevrolet Impala sedan.

Winneshiek Sheriff’s Office was called to an accident on County Road A18 on Nov. 26. A vehicle driven by Devon Seeley, 31, of Augusta, Wis., had a possible flat tire while entering a curve, which ultimately made the vehicle enter the ditch, where the driver lost control and struck a tree as the vehicle rolled. His 2009 Ford F250 truck was totaled in the accident. The rear passenger tire of the vehicle was found to be flat. No injuries were reported.

River Horns, 21, of Decorah, was cited for failure to maintain control following an accident on Town Line Road Nov. 27. The 2007 Dodge Caravan driven by Horns was reportedly eastbound on Town Line Road when he lost control and started sliding. Upon entering the south ditch, the vehicle struck a fence and fence post, causing the vehicle to turn. The vehicle continued in the east ditch and the driver ultimately drove out of the ditch, leaving the scene. Photos were taken at the scene. No injuries were reported. Damages totaled $4,000 to the passenger van, and $3,500 to fence posts and fence line owned by Paul Jirak of Calmar. 

Ryan Vaughn, 41, of Fort Atkinson, was served at 1798 Old Stage Road in Decorah Dec. 4, arrested and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail on an arrest warrant for violation of probation and additionally charged with contempt – violation of protective order.

Blake Breitsprecher, 33, of Decorah, was transported from the New Hampton Police Department to the Winneshiek County Jail Dec. 2, where he was booked on an arrest warrant for failure to serve jail time.

Tyler Ruesink, 22, of Spillville, turned himself in to the Winneshiek County Jail Dec. 4, where he was booked on an arrest warrant for failure to serve jail time.

Donny Shimek, 40, of Decorah, was served at 1677 Panoramic Rd., Decorah, on Dec. 2, was arrested and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail on arrest warrants for domestic abuse assault and harassment, 2nd degree.

Winneshiek Sheriff’s Office received a report of a two-vehicle collision near 2049 320th Street in Decorah on Nov. 29 at approximately 1:30 p.m. Upon arrival at the scene, investigating officers spoke to Zachary Peterson, 33, of Decorah, who said he was traveling west on 320th Street, when he lost control on the snow-covered road at the curve, and slid sideways into the oncoming lane, where he collided with the front of a vehicle driven by 37-year-old Sheena Anderson of Decorah. Damages totaled $5,000 to Anderson’s 2019 Volkswagon, and $6,000 to Anderson’s 2018 GMC Savana truck.

Winneshiek Sheriff’s Office reported an accident Dec. 3 at approximately 8:50 a.m. on 33rd Avenue. Officers report a vehicle driven by 24-year-old Trystan Grube of Cresco was stopped on 370th Street near the intersection of 333rd Ave., when he started backing up on the roadway. The vehicle’s rear tires slid off into the north ditch and the truck slid into the ditch and rolled over. There were three occupants in the truck (deer hunting) no injuries were reported. Airbags deployed in the front and side windows. Damages were estimated at $12,000 to the 2013 Ford F350 truck, which was totaled.
