Alan Neil Meyer was born Nov. 15, 1963, in Redfield, son of Gordon Neil and Shirley Ann (Anfinson) Meyer. He passed away suddenly Dec. 8, 2017, from complications of knee surgery. A memorial celebration of life is Saturday, June 9, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Alan and Colleen’s cottage, 605 N Prairie St. in Prairie du Chien, Wis.
Alan attended K-12 schools in Postville, and graduated in 1982. He received an AA degree in plumbing and heating from NICC. Following this he worked for Norplex in Postville for several years.
Alan married Patricia Hogan Sept. 12, 1987. They had two daughters, Carlee Marie and Lindsey Alise. Alan and Patricia later divorced. He married Colleen Schroeder Aug. 9, 2003, and moved to Scottsdale, Ariz. He worked for several companies there before establishing his own plumbing business.
He is survived by his wife, Colleen; two daughters, Lindsey (fiancé Jon Hackman) and Carlee (Albert Emery). Also surviving are his mother, Shirley Collins, step-father, Carlton Collins; two sisters, Lisa Brainard (Neal), Gretchen Meyer (Steve Shuman) and step-sister and brother-in-law, Sherrie and Steve Wallerstedt. He also is survived by his mother-in-law, Jeannette Schroeder, sisters- and brothers-in-law Leo Schroeder (Brenda), Jackie Lechtenberg (Ron), and Kendra Frey (Craig). His former wife, Patricia Meyer survives, as does his uncle, LaVern Stumme, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Alan was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Meyer; grandparents: Vernon and Lenore Meyer and Clarence and Ruth Anfinson; his aunt, Sally (Meyer) Stumme; his father-in-law, Kenneth Schroeder; and step-niece, Christina Wallerstedt.
Al dearly loved his family, the Mississippi, boating and his many friends. He will be greatly missed by all.
