Allan Schnuelle

Allan Fritz Schnuelle, age 79, of Castalia, passed away on Friday, Feb. 16, 2024 at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, Wisc.

Allan was born on Jan. 22, 1945 to Fritz and Irene (Dahlstrom) Schnuelle in Castalia, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia. Allan attended the Postville school. On Oct. 3, 1970 he was united in marriage with the former Judith Stahr at Zion Lutheran Church in West Union.

During his lifetime, Allan worked at Castalia Oil Company, Luana Creamery, and hauled grain most recently. He retired from truck driving in 2022. Allan liked to go fishing, mushroom hunting, watching television and in his later years, he loved to garden. He especially loved spending time with his granddaughter, Mara.

He is survived by his wife, Judy of 53 years; his son, Peter Schnuelle and granddaughter, Mara Schnuelle; his sister, Judy (Arvin) Koopman; sisters-in-law. Lois Schnuelle, Karen Schnuelle and Bev Schnuelle; and many nieces and nephews.

Allan was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sister-in-law, Edward (Betty), Raymond, Donald and Clinton; and two nephews, Grant Koopman and Rodney Schnuelle

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., with a visitation from 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 23, 2024 at Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia, with Rev. Daryl Schultz as the officiant. Interment will follow at Pleasant View in Castalia.

Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Postville, is assisting the family with services.
