Betty Rose, 94, of Bettendorf, formerly of Decorah, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2019, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf. Memorial services are at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 11, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Decorah, with Pastor Amy Larson officiating. Inurnment is in Lutheran Cemetery in Decorah. Visitation begins at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, one half hour before the service, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
Betty Eileen Stolle was born to Harry and Genevieve (Gunderson) Stolle in West Union Feb. 22, 1925. She attended country schools and graduated from West Union High School in May 1943. After graduation she worked at First National Bank in West Union.
She was united in marriage to LaVerne A. Rose June 6, 1948. To this union two daughters were born, Sharon Kay and Jayne Ann. Betty and LaVerne lived in Fayette when they were first married, moving to Postville in 1952, where they resided until LaVerne retired. In 1988 they moved to Decorah. In 2018 Betty relocated to Davenport to live with Sharon.
Betty was the quintessential homemaker. She loved to bake and was a skilled seamstress. She participated in many volunteer activities, primarily through the church. Since moving to the Quad Cities she delighted in getting to getting to know her great-grandchildren.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Sharon Rendack, Jayne Rose (Dan Dickens); her three grandchildren: Joseph Dickens, Michael Dickens and Abigail Dickens; four great-grandchildren; her sister, Marilyn Miller (Michael Miller); along with many extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, LaVerne, May 7, 2008; her sister, Helen Trapp; her brother, Harry Stolle; and her son-in-law, Jim Rendack.
