Beverly Louise Friederich

Beverly Louise Friederich, 86, of Elgin, died Sunday, July 7, 2019, at Stoney Brook in West Union. Beverly Louise was born Feb. 3, 1933, to Louis and Vera (Gress) Sutter in Elgin. She attended Elgin Schools. Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 11, at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Elgin. There also was a one-hour visitation before services at the church Friday. A funeral service was at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 12, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Elgin, with Rev. Michael Jager as the officiant. Burial followed at Elgin Cemetery, Elgin. Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Elgin helped the family with arrangements.

Beverly was united in marriage with Jacob Friederich, Jr. Jan. 18, 1949, in Elgin. In addition to being a farm wife, Beverly was owner/operator of Valley Café in Elgin for 11 years. She also baked cakes for weddings, graduations and other special occasions. She also enjoyed gardening, fishing, quilting and going to the boat. She loved being a grandma, great-grandma and great-great-grandma. Beverly was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She also was active in Elgin Historical Society.

Beverly is survived by her three children: Janice (David) Hendrickson of Decorah, Debra (Martin) Frieden of Elgin and Michael (Joyce) Friederich of Elgin; eight grandchildren: Darin (Sara) Hendrickson, Tami (Jason) Bohr, Rebecca (Paul) Jenkins, Rachel (Shawn) Fuhriman, Elizabeth (Jared) Bagwell, Matthew (Jennifer) Frieden, Amanda (Lucas) Nims and Ryan (Holly) Friederich; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; siblings, Ilo Downs of Overbrook, Kan., Louis (Mary) Sutter, Jr of Central City and Audrey Boeckenheuer of Ossian.

Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob Friederich, Jr., Aug. 4, 2011; her parents, Louis and Vera Sutter; and sisters: Marie Abarr, Shirley Halverson, Doris Schott and Karen Sutter.
