Bonnie L. Pilgard

Bonnie L. Pilgard, 69, of Decorah, passed away Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016, at Mayo Clinic Health System-Franciscan Medical Center in La Crosse, Wis.

She was born Feb. 22, 1947, in Chicago to Alois and LaVergne (Scherzer) Klein. Raised and educated in Barrington, Ill., Bonnie married Dennis R. Pilgard Sept. 10, 1966, and they recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They were former residents of Lake Zurich, Ill. for 29 years and Pine, Colo. for 16 years. During her lifetime, Bonnie was a member of the Lutheran Church and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. She most enjoyed gardening, crafts and quilting, cooking and baking, as well as nature, traveling, having pets, and spending time with friends and family. She received her greatest reward in life through her role as a good mother and wife.

Survivors include her loving husband of 50 years, Dennis; two sons, David A. Pilgard of McHenry, Ill. and Mark A. Pilgard of Fort Collins, Colo.; and two brothers, Kent (Genie) Klein of Scottsdale, Ariz. and Rick Klein of Cary, Ill.

Visitation was from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at Justen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3700 Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, IL 60050. The funeral service followed at 4 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment was in Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colo.

Her family suggests memorials to the Amyloidosis Foundation, the Department of Development of the Mayo Clinic, or to the Fisher House Foundation, Inc., 111 Rockville Pike, Suite 420, Rockville, MD 20850.
