Carol Dybvik, 80, of Ames, formerly of rural Decorah, died Wednesday, Oct. 16, at Accura Healthcare of Ames. Funeral mass was at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at St. Olaf Catholic Church in Mabel, with Father Stephen Abaukaka officiating. Burial was in the Russell Cemetery in rural Decorah. Visitation was 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, at the St. Olaf Catholic Church. The rosary was recited at 4 p.m. The Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel assisted with arrangements.

Carol was born Aug. 18, 1939, in La Crosse, Wis., to Rony and Bella Rommes.
She attended the Mabel Schools and then married Allen Dybvik at St. John’s Catholic Church in Rochester, Minn. They moved a few times before settling north of Decorah, where they lived until Allen’s passing Nov. 18, 2017. She was a member of the St. Olaf Catholic Church in Mabel, and enjoyed gardening and fishing.

Carol is survived by a son, Jeff (Julie) of Roland; four granddaughters: Jeanette, Cecilia, Victoria and Mary Rose; and siblings: Lamont, Rodger, Robert and Christine.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen; her parents; a son, Steven; and a brother, David.
