Carol Sue Anderson

Carol Sue Anderson, 82, of Castalia, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017, at Guttenberg Care Center, Guttenberg. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, at Ossian Lutheran Church, Ossian. There also is a one-hour visitation before services at the church Wednesday. Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, at Ossian Lutheran Church, Ossian, with Rev. David Lenth as the officiant. Burial will follow at Bloomfield Cemetery, Castalia. Schmitz-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Ossian, is helping the family with arrangements.

Carol Sue was born Feb. 26, 1935, to George and Bernice (Chase) Nickels in Grass Creek, Ind. She graduated from Elgin High School in 1952.

Carol was united in marriage with Jerry Anderson Aug. 2, 1959, in Elgin; five children were born to this union. She was a farm wife and enjoyed raising the children. She spent time reading, doing puzzles, tending to her flowers and garden, canning and baking.

Carol is survived by her five children: Stacey (Joseph) Thomas of Juneau, Alaska, Lori (Jim Engen) Kuehl of Giard, Scott Anderson of Ossian, Lisa Anderson of Ossian and JaDene (Hugh) Wegner of Ossian; 10 grandchildren: Matthew, Jonathon and Courtney Wendel, Sarah Mormann, Jacob and Joshua Kuehl, Sheila Anderson, Deidree Acord and Ryan and Kyle Wegner; several great-grandchildren; and one brother, Robert Nickels of Grand Junction, Colo.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Anderson, March 28, 2005; her parents, George and Bernice Nickels; two grandsons, Shawn Anderson and Jacob Wegner; siblings, Owen Nickels, Merlin Nickels, Gerald Lee Nickels, Gayle Olson, Lois Jane and Evertt Nickels in childhood.
