Carrol Anderson, 88, passed away Feb. 22, 2019, at the Aase Haugen Senior Services nursing home in Decorah, where he had lived for many years. There will be a private burial service in Houston, Minnesota at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to the Stone Ridge Community Church, 1111 Montgomery St., Decorah, IA 52101. Carrol was born Feb. 17, 1931, to Curtis and Una Anderson, in Houston, Minn. He grew up on a farm and was active in 4-H as a young man and was also active in Houston High School athletics. Carrol worked for over 40 years in the agribusiness field as a salesman and manager for several different companies. He had an excellent reputation with his dealers and he always had a joke to make them laugh.
Carrol accepted Christ as his personal savior in 1951 and was very active in church service including being an usher, a greeter, Sunday School superintendent, song leader, teacher and deacon. One of his greatest joys was helping to start an evangelical church in Decorah.
Carrol is survived by five sons: Craig (Debbie) Anderson of Geneseo, Ill., Ross (Sandy) Anderson of Ankeny, Kerry (Tammy) Anderson of Woodland, Calif., Scott (Sandy) Anderson of Spokane, Wash. and David (Michelle) Anderson of Robbinsville, N.J. Other survivors include two brothers, John (Barbara) Anderson and Ralph (Fern) Anderson; two sisters, Georgene Genck and Bonnie McDaniels; a brother-in-law, Earl (Joan) Solberg; and many nephews, nieces, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Carrol was preceded in death by his wife, Dagmar and his daughter, Cherilyn Anderson Ross.
