Catherine Ott, 93, of Fort Atkinson, died Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at Ossian Senior Hospice in Ossian. Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 14, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson, with Rev. Nick March and Rev. Robert Gross officiating. Organist was Jeanette Dietzenbach. St. John’s Choir sang “Here I am Lord,” “Prayer of Saint Francis,” “Precious Lord Take My Hand” and “How Great Thou Art.” Mass servers were Dick Nienhaus and Ed Langreck. Lector was Judy Ott. Offertory gift bearers were Catherine’s great-grandchildren. Eucharistic ministers were Jacob Rouse, Roger and Judy Ott. Honorary casket bearers were Catherine’s grandchildren. Casket bearers were Leon Ott, Joel Hageman, Bob Tupy, Kenny Mikota, Lee Hageman and Tom Hageman. Interment was at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery in Spillville. Arrangements were handled by Schluter – Balik Funeral Home Chekal Chapel, Fort Atkinson.

Catherine Bonfilia (Hageman) Ott was born Aug. 19, 1922, the firstborn child of Joseph and Elizabeth (Kriener) Hageman near Calmar. She was baptized at St. Aloysius Catholic Church and attended St. Aloysius Catholic School in Calmar. She was united in marriage to Leo Ott May 27, 1947, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar. The next day there was a large snowstorm; a picture shows them standing in the snow. Together they farmed west of Fort Atkinson, until 1983, when they moved into Fort Atkinson. Catherine cooked at the South Winn Country Club for 20 years and enjoyed quilting. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson and the Clarence Bily American Legion Auxiliary.

Catherine is survived by her four sons: Roger (Judy) Ott, Fort Atkinson; Linus (Bernice) Ott, New Albin; Dennis (friend, Wanda Cole) Ott, Fort Atkinson; and Alan Ott, Decorah; five grandchildren: Keith (Kelli) Ott, Kevin Ott, Christie (Chad) Ihde, Jaci McCartney, Karisa Ott; six great-grandchildren: Madelyn and Emersyn Ott, and Olivia Ott; Ashlyn and Cale Ihde and Nicole Ryan; Catherine’s siblings and their spouses: Paul (Colleen) Hageman, Decorah; Rose (Linus) Tupy, Fort Atkinson; Martha (Ed) Mikota, Ossian; Lucy Hageman, Ossian; and Gertrude Hageman, Decorah; brother-in-law, Dale Ott, Festina; sister-in-law, Hermina Koudelka, Cresco.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Elizabeth (Kriener) Hageman; her husband, Leo Ott, Oct. 11, 1995; her daughter, Doris Ott, Aug. 7, 1999; sister, Anna (Edward) Ondrashek; brothers, Arnold Hageman and Conrad Hageman; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Helena (Hackman) Ott; brothers-in-law and sisters-in law: Oscar (Thecla) Ott, Roman (Philomena) Ott, Paul (Rosemary) Ott, Herbert (Rita) Ott, Hilda (Victor) Bullerman, Leona (Leonard) Barloon, Agnes Ott, Helen Ott and Louis Koudelka.
