David W. Wepler, age 69, of Decorah passed away on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2021 at Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah. He died from complications of COVID-19.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 16, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Christian Life Center. An inurnment of ashes will be held at a later date. David was born on June 25, 1951 in Decorah, the son of Walter and Gladys (Rickert) Wepler. He graduated from Thomas Roberts High School in 1969. He served in the Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in 1973. He graduated from Area One Technical School in 1974 and received a diploma in welding. David was employed as a welder at Carter Day Company in Minneapolis, Minn. He later moved to Decorah and was employed at Deco Products Co for many years. David enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting, fishing and biking. He also liked a good conversation. He was passionate about attending Bible studies, sitting around a campfire, and cooking for friends. He always put others before himself.

David married Marcella Marie Hartman in 1974 and they had two sons: Tyler and Matthew. David and Marcie later divorced.

David is survived by his two sons: Tyler Wepler and Mathew Wepler, brothers: Dennis & Susan (Winger) Wepler of Eau Claire, WI, Roger Wepler of Decorah IA. Wesley and Rhonda (Cain)of Sioux City, IA and nieces Stephanie (Jeff) Schemberger, Alison (Paul) Peterson, Janee Wepler, and many other friends and relatives. Preceding him in death were his parents, Walter and Gladys Wepler, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
