David Hosper

David Hosper, 85, of Calmar, died Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at Ossian Senior Hospice in Ossian. Mass Of Christian Burial was at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 25, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar, with Rev. Robert Gross officiating. Organist was Jeanette Dietzenbach. Soloist was Dan Silhacek (“Goin’ Home”). St. Aloysius Choir also sang. Congregational hymns were “On Eagle’s Wings,” “You Are Mine,”  “One Bread, One Body” and “How Great Thou Art.” Lector was Teena Hosper. Offertory gift bearers were Rick, Steve and Sam Hosper. Eucharistic ministers were Kay Heying and Carolyn Havel. Urn bearer was Nathan Hosper. Inurnment was at St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery in Calmar. Arrangements were handled by Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Calmar.
David Charles Hosper was born May 23, 1930, in Calmar, the son of John and Agnes (Schneberger) Hosper. He attended St. Aloysius Grade School, Calmar High School and Cedar Rapids Business College. After graduating, David was employed as a accountant at Bucheit Produce. In 1980 David purchased Winco Farm Supply in Calmar, which he owned and operated until his health declined in 2005. David married Marian Klimesh Aug. 16, 1952, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville. Together they raised three sons. David was a life-long parishioner of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, a charter member of the Calmar Lions Club and a member of the Calmar Commercial Club. He enjoyed traveling, fishing trips and going on Sunday drives. He had a special love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 
David is survived by his wife of almost 63 years, Marian Hosper, Calmar; three sons: Richard (Teena) Hosper, Calmar; Steve (Cheryl) Hosper, Melbourne; Sam (Kerri) Hosper, Naperville, Ill.; eight grand-children: Nathan (Jessica) Hosper, Owatonna, Minn.; Derrick (Natalie) Rogers, Cedar Falls; Dustin Rogers (Special friend Nana), Cedar Falls; Jessica (Rick) Brimmer, Waterloo; Kyle, Carly, Haley and Neal Hosper, Naperville, Ill.; four great-grandchildren: Avery, Cassandra and William Hosper, Owatonna, Minn. and Ellyn Rogers, Cedar Falls; along with many nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents, John and Agnes (Schneberger) Hosper; sister, Cleo Mae and (Paul) Gerlich; nephew, Vince Gerlich; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Mayme (Holub) Klimesh; niece, Maryet Rowell; brothers-in-law: Morris Klimesh, Elmer (Martha) Klimesh and Frank and (Mary Lou) Klimesh.
