David Zakostelecky, 51, passed away Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019, at Pillar of Cedar Valley in Waterloo. Friends and family are invited to extend their sympathies at a visitation which will be held before the memorial services at Hindt-Hudek Funeral home Saturday, March 9, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Following visitation, a prayer service and celebration of life will be held at the funeral home at 2 p.m.
David Zakostelecky was born May 31, 1967, in Cresco, to Francis “Frank” and Helen (Reuter) Zakostelecky. He graduated from Crestwood High School in 1986, and was later employed at Featherlite in Cresco. David enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially deer and pheasant. He had an affection for many family pets throughout the years and showed great kindness when working with animals. He was a big fan of NASCAR, Dale Earnhardt and the Dallas Cowboys. David also enjoyed his quad runners, going to the local race track, snowmobiling, woodworking, socializing, spending time with his family, and he always had a good joke to tell.
David is survived by two sisters, Melody Zakostelecky of Cresco and Marsha (Mike) Hageman of Fort Atkinson; one brother, Vernon (Barb) Zakostelecky of Cedar Rapids; nieces and nephews: Brian Beatty and family, Jason (Jill) Beatty and family, Dustin Baltz, Nathan Hageman and family, Nancy (Dean) Franzen and family, Joseph Hageman and son, aunts and uncles Donald (Ida) Zakostelecky and Bob (Phyllis) Reuter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Joseph and Scott.
The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the many caretakers who assisted in David’s needs while a resident at the Countryview Care Facility (more recently known as Pillar of Cedar Valley) for the past three years.
