Delpha D. McCormick, 89, of Harpers Ferry, passed away Sunday, Dec. 20, 2015, at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville. Mass of Christian Burial is at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 28, at St. Mary Catholic Church in McGregor. Rev. Nils de Jesus Hernandez and Rev. Dan Knipper are concelebrants. Visitation is from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 27, at Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home in McGregor, with a scripture service at 4:30 p.m. Friends may also call one hour before services at the church Monday. Interment is at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28, at St. Pious Catholic Church Cemetery (Cherry Mound), rural Harpers Ferry.
Delpha Darlene, the daughter of John and Clarice (Kohl) Knapp, was born Nov. 1, 1926, in McGregor. Delpha was united in marriage with Dale McCormick Oct. 2, 1950, at St. Pious Catholic Church (Cherry Mound), rural Harpers Ferry. To this union two daughters, Barb and Joann, were born. Delpha and Dale lived on the McCormick family farm on Sunshine Hill north of Marquette from 1950 until 1986. They continued to live on the acreage at Sunshine Hill until Delpha entered the Good Samaritan Center in Postville. Delpha took great pride in caring for her family and home. She also loved spending time with her family and friends.
Delpha is survived by her two daughters, Barb (Mark) Arneson of Decorah and Joann Heeren of Decorah; two grandchildren, Jarrod (Christina Miller) Heeren and Tiffany (Mitchel) Zweibohmer; two step grandchildren, Andrea Arneson and Jason (Amy) Arneson; two great-grandchildren, Seth and Ashley Zweibohmer; and her sister, Beverly Platten of Harpers Ferry.
Delpha was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; her parents, John and Clarice Knapp; one sister, Doreen Wahl; and one brother, Dean Knapp.
A special thank you to the Good Samaritan Society of Postville, for all the care, comfort and support they gave, not only for Mom but for the family as well.
Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in McGregor assisted the family with the arrangements.
