Donald D. “Buck” Boice, age 67, of Decorah, Iowa, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2022, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, Wis.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2022, at Decorah Lutheran Church with Rev. Peter Kowitz officiating. Burial will be in the Union Prairie Cemetery in rural Decorah, later in the spring. Visitation begins on Thursday at 11 a.m., two hours before the service, at Decorah Lutheran Church.
Donald David “Buck” Boice was born on May 3, 1954, in Decorah, Iowa, the son of Dean Thomas and Laura Mae (Baker) Boice. He graduated from North Winneshiek High School with the class of 1972. Buck was united in marriage to Valerie Ann Grant on April 5, 1975 at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Decorah. The union was blessed with two daughters, Brooke and Breelyn. They later divorced.
Buck worked at Lang’s Dairy in Decorah for 35 years as a dairy equipment technician. He loved to hunt coyote, raccoon, and deer, and fishing.
Buck is survived by his mother, Laura Boice of Decorah; two daughters, Brooke (Jeff) Estum of Eden Praire, Minn. and Breelyn (Chase) Riehle of Decorah, and their two sons, Cashton and Keaton; one brother, Ron (Dorothy) Boice of Decorah; two sisters, Beverly Phillips (Darin Nelson) of Decorah and Joan Boice of Ridgeway; his special friend, Kathy Ryder of Decorah, and one aunt, Lorraine Baker of Waterloo. He was preceded in death by his father, Dean Boice on Dec. 16, 2000
.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to his mother Laura Boice.
