Dorothy A. Hanson, age 87, of Faribault, Minn., died on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023, at Allina Faribault Medical Center surrounded by her family.

Memorial services will be held at First English Lutheran Church, Faribault on Jan. 5, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., with the Reverend Mark E. Johnson officiating. Interment will be at Meadow Ridge Memorial Park, Faribault at a later date.

A memorial visitation will be at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault on Jan. 4, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m. and also at the church one hour prior to the service on Jan. 5.

Dorothy Ann, daughter of Henry O. and Kaia Pearl (Nelson) Bakken was born April 29, 1936, in Decorah, Iowa. She graduated from Decorah High School. She married J. Duane Hanson Oct. 10, 1954 in Decorah. He preceded her in death on May 6, 2017. She was active in her church and at her home at Cardinal Pointe. She loved spending time with her family and friends, she enjoyed cooking, baking, puzzles, playing cards and reading.

She is survived by three children, Debbie (Donnie) Husbyn of Zumbrota, Minn., Doreen (Jim) Schuchard of Frontenac and David (Jill) Hanson of Faribault; six grandchildren, Brady (Senna) Husbyn, Matthew (Anna) Husbyn, Stephanie (Allen) Pyfferoen, Mitchell (Tonya Redshaw) Hanson, Morgan (Ryan) Benrud and Mason (Dave Mohr) Hanson; eight great grandchildren; three siblings, Hubert (Judy) Bakken of Decorah, Durwin (Jean) Bakken of Pleasant Hill, MO, Linda (Doug) Martin of Lees Summit, MO.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane; siblings, Donald Bakken, Arlin Bakken, Merlin Bakken, Shirley (Wendell) Abbott, Kathryn Swenson and Muriel Bakken in infancy.
