Duane “Dewey” Hanson, 82, of Faribault, Minn. died May 6, 2017, at St. Lucas Care Center, Faribault. Memorial services are at First English Lutheran Church, Faribault, Minn. Thursday, May 11, at 10 a.m. Interment is at Meadow Ridge Memorial Park, Faribault, Minn. with military rites provided by the Rice County Veterans Association. Memorial visitation is at Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault, Minn. Wednesday, May 10, from 4 to 7 p.m. and also at the church for one hour prior to the services Thursday.

James Duane, the son of James and Elsie (Martin) Hanson was born Nov. 23, 1934, in Spring Grove. He graduated from Decorah High School, Decorah. He married the love of his life, Dorothy Ann Bakken, Oct. 10, 1954, in Decorah. They were married for 62 wonderful years. Dewey served in the U. S. Army and was a member of the Faribault American Legion Post No. 43. He was formerly employed by L. S. Sorem and Associates as a salesman for many years, later by Rice County Sheriff’s Department as a jailer and by St. Luke’s Church, Faribault, as a custodian. Dewey enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was known for his witty sense of humor and his love of cars.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; three children: Debbie (and Donnie) Husbyn of Zumbrota, Doreen (and Jim) Schuchard of Old Frontenac and David (and Jill) Hanson of Faribault; six grandchildren: Brady (and Senna Desjardins) Husbyn, Matthew Husbyn, Stephanie (and Allen Pyfferoen) Husbyn, Mitchell Hanson, Morgan (and Ryan) Benrud and Mason Hanson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Ethel (and Clifford) Kroshus.
